Music With Flair
We perform entertaining arrangements throwing in a few theatrics – much to the delight of our audiences
Programs
Rideau Reflections
A musical program that traces the history of the Rideau Canal connecting Ottawa with Kingston, Ontario. It includes a variety of musical arrangements from Handel to Sesame Street which illustrate milestones in the development and use of the Canal. For the full list of tunes check out our Rideau Reflections CD.
The Music Express
Climb aboard “The Music Express” for a musical journey around Europe from Copenhagen through Holland, France Spain, Italy then heading north across the Alps stopping at a host of countries finally arriving for “Midnight in Moscow”. The program is full of well-known tunes and folk melodies from the various countries along the way. The brass players enter into the spirit of the journey using some fancy headwear to reflect each country.
The Village Band
In the late 1800s Manotick Village boasted a Village Brass Band. The Manotick Brass has faithfully recreated the band uniforms and offers an historical quintet to support local festivals. Arrangements of early Canadian Music can also be supplied to replicate what audiences might have seen and heard in the late 1800s. Our historical Village Band has performed for the Rideau Canal Opening ceremonies, the 150th celebrations for the Village of Manotick as well as the 150th anniversary of Watson’s Mill in Manotick. Let us add a unique historical flavour to your next celebration
Celebrate Cuba
In February 2011 the Manotick Brass completed a nine concert tour to Cuba performing at churches and other venues in Havana, Matanzas, Cardenas and Varadero. For this tour the Manotick Brass put together a new repertoire of upbeat gospel songs, spirituals, along with Canadian Latin and Cuban melodies. This program mixes upbeat gospel songs with Latin melodies and rhythms offering a program that really brings in the tropical sunshine!
Bells and Brass
Our wedding program includes 20 to 30 minutes of music as the guests arrive and take their seats. We can also provide music as necessary during the ceremony including the traditional wedding marches. We offer either traditional music, or secular love songs. The sound of brass is ideally suited to both indoor and outdoor ceremonies.
Remembering with Brass
We honour our veterans with a special program during Remembrance week in November. This popular program includes a mix of both sacred and secular music associated with Remembrance Day ceremonies as well as music associated with the period of the two great wars.
Christmas Reflections
Celebrate the Christmas season with the festive sound of brass! We offer both secular and sacred programs including arrangements of popular carols to accompany congregational singing or an informal sing-a-long. This year’s program features two new arrangements by E. F. Lloyd Hiscock including “Caribbean Christmas”, a wonderful medley of calypso carols.
