Kids Luv Brass!
Our music brings out the best in kids! We make music fun and have programs for all ages
Our educational programs are aimed at children of all ages. For the lower grades up to and including grade 6 the interactive presentation “What’s the Buzz?!” has proven very popular and successful. This program was developed with assistance from the City of Ottawa and MASC, an arts support agency based in Ottawa. Technical advice and input was also provided by professional musicians and performers.
For the middle and higher grades we offer a concert of about 45 minutes and geared to the specific age group of the audience. This can be supplemented by instrumental workshops for the various sections of the school band. For new band members the workshops will cover the basics of the instrument, breathing techniques and sound production. We have also provided section coaching in the playing of competition pieces with Manotick Brass sitting in with the band on a final rehearsal.

WHATS THE BUZZ?!
“What’s the Buzz?!” is a lively presentation designed to introduce young children to the joys of brass music. The rap style introduction quickly grabs audience attention and sets everyone a-buzz!
Aimed at the elementary school level, this interactive presentation will have students clapping, marching and singing. Professionally developed with financial support from the City of Ottawa “What’s the Buzz?!” can be presented to groups from 30 to 300 students. This 45 minute presentation holds the young audience in rapt attention. The presentation can be supplemented by in-residence workshops for up to 30 students.
Getting to know the tuba snake!
In the 45 minute workshops students are given one on one instruction on the techniques of buzzing on trumpet mouthpieces. Students are then broken into small groups of 5 or 6 to try out special fanfare trumpets. Once some proficiency has been achieved students come together in groups of 4 to play their own trumpet fanfares.
